Welcome to my academic webpage at Saarland University!

At this webpage you will find information about my research activities, my teaching assistance as well as a list of my recent publications. My virtual DFKI business card can be found here and the one from the university of applied science Amberg-Weiden can be found here.

I was working as a project manager and senior researcher at the German Research Centre for Artificial Intelligence DFKI GmbH, where I am affiliated to the Intelligent User Interfaces Group of the Director Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Wolfgang Wahlster. My current research activities address the interesting challenge of Human-Computer-Interactin and Information Management applied to Personalization, Social Semantic Web and Ubiquitous Computing.

I've studied computer science at the Saarland University and Artificial Intelligence at the University of Edinburgh. My PhD research has been supported by the International Post-Graduate College of Language Technology and Cognitive Systems. Before I joined the DFKI, I worked as project manager for the internet service provider NewIdentity AG, a specialist for online portals. My recently finished project BAIR "User Adaptation in Instrumented Rooms" has been presented at the CeBIT business fair.

Several years I coordinated the DFKI-part of the EU FP7 STREP Project GRAPPLE which stands for "Generic Responsive Adaptive Personalized Learning Environment". The GRAPPLE project aims at delivering to learners a technology-enhanced learning (TEL) environment that guides them through a life-long learning experience, automatically adapting to personal preferences, prior knowledge, skills and competences, learning goals and the personal or social context in which the learning takes place.

Recently, I coordinated the DFKI's participation in the German Software Campus, I managed the DFKI's activities within the European Institute of Innovation and Technology, and I contributed to the project EMERGENT in the Software Cluster.

From the summer semester 2013 onwards I am teaching Human-Computer-Interaction at the University of Applied Science Amberg-Weiden.

Feel free to visit our research group in Saarbrücken, and feel free to visit me in Amberg.
